This 4 days Akagera wildlife and hot air balloon safari will take you to Akagera National Park, the only savannah national park in Rwanda. It is located at Rwanda’s border with Tanzania. The safari will give you an opportunity to take part in the three main activities of the park; game drives, hot air balloon tour and boat cruise.

The hot air balloon is one of the newest activities of Akagera National Park and it offers an opportunity to enjoy vast views of its savannah plains dotted with rivers, lake marshes and different animal species. You have a chance of spotting the African Big five animals. You will have a short city tour in Kigali to places including the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local markets among others.

Day 01 :

Arrive and check in at the hotel in Kigali

The assigned driver / guide from Bashem Safaris will pick you from the airport and transfer you to the booked hotel in Kigali. Before he or she leaves you at the hotel, they will share a brief of the safari with focus on the next day’s program.

Day 02 :

Short Kigali city tour and transfer to Akagera National Park

Have your morning breakfast at the hotel and set off for a short city tour around Kigali; you will visit the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Grounds where the remainings and information of over a thousand people who perished during the genocide war are kept. From here, you will head to Kigali Central Market, and shopping malls among others.
Have lunch and drive to Akagera National Park. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, relax, later have dinner and rest.

Day 03 :

Hot air balloon experience and boat cruise

Have breakfast and then take a drive to the hot air balloon starting point. Meet the operation’s team that will take you through a briefing session about the adventure. You will get aboard and the pilot will fly you in the airs to have that great aerial view of the park. This experience is operated by Royal Balloon Rwanda in partnership with Rwanda Development Board and Akagera Management Company.

The basket accommodates 4 to 6 people and it will go up to a height of 100m from the ground. This will grant you great moments where you have chances of spotting elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffalos, warthogs, Masai giraffes and many others.

You will have lunch at your lodge and head out for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, granting you an opportunity to spot crocodiles, hippos, and several bird species.

Day 04 :

Short game drive and transfer back to Kigali

Have a short morning game drive around the plains of Akagera National Park and head back to Kigali. You will have lunch in Kigali and be dropped off at the airport marking the end of the 4 Days tour.
