Weather Preparedness
- Summer: Heat and humidity can be high in Ottawa. Carry water and wear sunscreen.
- Winter: Temperatures can drop significantly below freezing. Frostbite is a risk. If joining a winter tour, you must have a heavy parka, insulated boots, gloves, and a hat.
Urban Safety Ottawa is a very safe city. However, standard precautions apply:
- Watch for traffic when crossing streets.
- In winter, watch for icy sidewalks which can be slippery.
- Secure your valuables in crowded tourist areas.
Accessibility Most Canadian national sites (Parliament, Museums) are fully accessible. Natural sites (parks, waterfalls) may have uneven terrain.
