Born in the Shadow of Bwindi. Built to Share It With the World.
Emmanuel Bashitsi grew up in Nyarusiza, a small community in Kisoro district in southwestern Uganda, nestled between the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. From his doorstep, he could see the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga — home to the mountain gorillas and the Batwa people who had lived in those forests for generations.
He left home for school, worked as a porter and later as a transport steward, saved every shilling he could, and in 2015 founded Bashem Transporters Co. Ltd. with just $300 and a driving permit. No office. No vehicle. Just a vision and a work ethic built on the hills of Kisoro.
That company grew into Bashem Safaris East Africa — a fully registered tour operator with a presence in Canada and East Africa, serving travelers from across North America and the world. Today Emmanuel leads a team of experienced local guides who do not just show you a destination. They help you feel it.

Bashem Safaris was founded in 2015 with a mission to bridge two worlds. We specialize in helping people discover the authentic beauty of East Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania) and the rich history of Canada (Ottawa and surrounding regions).
We are based in both Mississauga, Canada and East Africa, which gives us a unique perspective. We understand the expectations of North American travelers, and we possess the deep, local knowledge required to navigate East African landscapes intimately.
