Packing Guide

Where every journey becomes a gateway to discovery.

Safari Packing List (East Africa)

The Golden Rules

  1. Neutral Colors: Khaki, tan, and olive. Avoid bright colors (can startle animals) and dark blue/black (can attract insects).
  2. Soft Luggage: We highly recommend soft-sided duffel bags. Small safari planes often have strict weight limits and cannot fit hard-shell suitcases.

Essentials

  • Clothing: Lightweight, breathable long sleeves (sun/bug protection). Fleece jacket for cool mornings.
  • Footwear: Broken-in hiking boots (essential for trekking) and comfortable shoes/sandals for the lodge.
  • Gear: Binoculars, Camera (with extra batteries), Universal Adapter.
  • Toiletries: Sunscreen, Insect Repellent, Personal Meds, Hand Sanitizer.

Gorilla Trekking Specifics

  • Waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support.
  • Gardening gloves (to protect hands from thorny vegetation).
  • Long socks (to tuck pants into for insect protection).
